Awareness and Action towards Racial Justice and Equitable Outcomes

Heightened awareness of deep racial injustice in our country, including the inequitable impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, has called us to grow, learn, and act together as a community. SV2 is responding with a range of programming for Partner engagement and learning, as well as the launch of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Working Group.

SV2 Fall Gathering: Reimagining Meaningful Impact

Join us for our virtual Fall Gathering, Reimagining Meaningful Impact, on Tuesday, September 29 from 6:30 - 8:00pm. During these turbulent and challenging times, there are also exciting examples of innovation and resilience.

We’ll hear from inspiring social change leaders: Cat Berman, CEO, CNote (SV2 Impact Investee) and Villy Wang, Executive Director, BAYCAT (SV2 Grantee). And we’ll honor one outstanding SV2 Partner who will receive the 2020 Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen award for their contributions to SV2’s social impact and community. We invite you to join us to reflect on how we, as change-makers, can join together to rethink and reinvent meaningful impact in the coming year.

Economic Inclusion Grant Round Kicks Off in September

The Economic Inclusion Grant Round -- part of SV2's local Pathways to Opportunity focus -- will look at approaches and organizations that are supporting economic rebuilding in just, equitable, and inclusive ways. At our Kickoff meeting, we’ll learn from our Funder Allies, The San Francisco Foundation and The Sobrato Foundation, what they are learning about this rapidly evolving sector, as well as their insights about the organizations they’ve nominated for SV2 to consider.

Introduce your friends and colleagues to SV2

SV2 Partners, we encourage you to help us spread the word about the SV2 community. If you know someone who may be interested, please invite them to join us in helping to create a Bay Area and world where everyone can thrive by attending an upcoming SV2 event. Alternatively, you can forward a name or two to Lucinda Brommersma and she will follow-up directly with them.

Thanks for your support in growing our community and increasing our impact!

Welcome, new Partners!

The Danhakl Family Foundation principally supports local grassroots organizations in LA and the Bay Area that provide direct services addressing the needs of disadvantaged communities. Lizzy loves anything related to the outdoors and is a big sports enthusiast - running, cycling, mountain biking, skiing, paddle boarding, you name it!

Lisa Van Dusen is the new Executive Director of the Palo Alto Community Fund which supports nonprofit organizations in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto and Menlo Park. She and her husband, John Kelley, live in Palo Alto where they raised two now adult sons and actively support a variety of housing, sustainability and other civic initiatives.  Lisa is excited to transition from seven years on the SV2 staff team as Chief Relationship Officer to being an SV2 Partner.  She is also an enthusiastic practicing artist and leadership coach.
