Getting Proximate and Beyond on Climate Justice
|
|
|
We can all see and feel vividly the effects of climate change in our own experiences: sea level rise, wildfires, heat, floods, drought, etc. But what we don’t see, is their disproportionate impacts on our frontline communities who are far more exposed due to their location, decades of discrimination, limited resources, and ignored voices.
Our “Get Proximate Climate Justice'' event, held in mid-March in East Palo Alto, provided us an invaluable perspective on these impacts. We heard from 5 community-based organizations (CBOs) within San Mateo county who are responding urgently to their communities’ needs to mitigate and adapt to climate change, through securing resources and advocacy: Climate Resilient Communities, North Fair Oaks Community Alliance, Nuestra Casa, Rise South City, and Youth United for Community Action.
We found that these voices were powerful and
impactful.

Investing in Climate Solutions | Defensive Strategies Partner-Led Event
If rising interest rates, global uncertainty, and an end to quantitative easing have you concerned about the future performance of public equities, this session on defensive climate investment strategies is for you. These investments have a low correlation to public equities, so provide important diversification benefits in times like these. What types of defensive investments are available for the financially oriented and for the impact first climate investor? Can helping a small holder farmer buy a clean cookstove or solar energy really be good for my portfolio? What are carbon credits and how do I invest in them? These questions and more will be answered by our distinguished panelists, Taylor Jordan, the Co Founder of Imprint Capital and Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, and Campbell Moore, The Nature Conservancy’s Global Carbon Markets Strategy Lead.
This is the
fifth session in our series on Investing in Climate Solutions. Previous sessions covered an Overview, Public Investments, Real Assets, and Venture Capital.
