SV2 Impact Investing | September Monthly Pitches

Wednesday, 9/13 | 11:30am - 1:00pm | Zoom


The SV2 Impact Investing Group (IIG) meets monthly to hear two social enterprise startups pitch. Partners are invited to provide input on the pitches and volunteer to participate on due diligence teams. All SV2 Partners are welcome to begin regularly attending IIG meetings at any point in the year or are welcome to attend meetings on a drop-in basis. Immediately following the Monthly Pitches, the Investment Committee (IC) convenes to hear the due diligence reports from the previous month and make investment decisions on behalf of SV2. All Partners in IIG are welcome to observe the IC Meetings immediately following the Monthly Pitches.

The Family Philanthropy Interest Circle is a Partner-led group which provides a safe space to explore giving experiences, successes, and challenges in an ongoing, intimate setting. If you are a current Donor Partner with a family foundation, a donor advised fund, family office, or some other structured family giving vehicle, please join us. This event is for current SV2 Donor Partners only, and is led by Deb Dauber.

Health Equity Interest Group

Wednesday, 9/27 | 6:30pm - 8:00pm | Zoom


This Partner-led group will meet monthly on Wednesday evenings to learn more about health inequities in the US. We will start our year with a broad look at the problem and narrow down our focus based on member interests, with the goal of identifying non-profits doing good work in this sector by the end of the year. This group is open to current SV2 Donor Partners only. Please reach out to Deb Dauber with any questions.

Mental Health & Wellbeing | Kickoff Event for our Grant Round

At this in person gathering, we'll do a mindfulness exercise, connect with authentic, accomplished, and diverse mental health & wellbeing changemakers, and engage in community dialogues. We'll announce the five finalist organizations we'll learn more about in our grant round, and share our grantmaking next steps.

WELCOME NEW SV2 PARTNERS

Erinn Andrews

Erinn is the founder and CEO of GiveTeam, a philanthropic advising firm working with financial advisors and their clients (folks giving away ~$10K-500K/year) in developing their charitable priorities and finding new organizations to fund based on those goals. Over the last 15 years, she led a philanthropic research lab at Stanford University, led GuideStar’s strategy to develop the bronze, silver, gold, and platinum designations, and started a nonprofit to identify high-impact organizations. Erinn lives with her husband and two kids in Menlo Park. She volunteers at her kids' schools, serves on the national board of Advisors in Philanthropy, and in her personal philanthropy, funds with a social justice and equity lens.

Guillermo Diaz, Jr.

Guillermo Diaz, Jr. is a transformative global business leader and champion of diversity, equity and inclusion. He most recently served as the Chairman of the Hispanic Technology Council (HITEC), the premier global executive leadership organization of senior business and technology executives who have and are building outstanding careers in technology. Guillermo is the Founder and CEO of Conectado Inc., an innovative Web 3 / AI digital platform with the mission to accelerate access to opportunities for those that are underrepresented. He serves on the Board of Directors for Blue Shield of California and Jack in the Box (JACK). Also, social impact boards for the Cristo Rey High School Work Study program, Npower (a nonprofit supporting veterans and young adults), and the Stanford Latino Entrepreneur Initiative.

 Sheela & Jay Boddu 

Sheela and Jay Boddu are focused on living life with a purpose and being involved in activities that are impactful and meaningful. Sheela started her career as a software engineer at a Silicon Valley start-up and subsequently worked at Rockwell Collins. Since then, she has been focused on social outreach activities including being the program  director of an after school program for six years, a treasurer for four years, and being on Boards/Councils and Grant Committees for non profit organizations for the past 15 years. Sheela holds a Master’s degree in computer applications. Jay is an experienced venture capital investor and has been a Board Member/Observer/Advisor/ Investor to 40+ start-ups. Jay previously was the Vice President and Head of New Business Incubation at Juniper Networks. Jay has held a number of venture investing and operating roles at Sofinnova Ventures, Sun Microsystems, Amdahl Corporation, ATI Research, and several venture funded start-ups. Jay has completed the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School, a B. Tech from Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay). He also has a MS and an MBA. Jay also spent a year at Stanford University as a visiting scholar focused on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Jay holds over 60 Patents. Their daughter is currently a senior pursuing a BBA at Northeastern University.

Food Distribution with Redwood City Together

Join us for some community volunteering! This is a monthly food distribution where 200-250 families benefit from free groceries. This is an exciting in person volunteer opportunity to be in community with Redwood City Together, our new Community Initiative Grantee Partner. One Life Counseling

Fridays 10-2PM | Want to make a difference but don’t have a lot of time to volunteer? We love food donations on Fridays for our Monday Markets. One Life’s Monday Market serves over 1,200 meals. Bring any shelf stable donations at 1033 Laurel St. San Carlos and we will get them to clients with food insecurity. More Info here.

Wild Wild West Night of Inspiration 
Funds raised will directly support our individual counseling, school-based counseling and group therapy programs, and community services such as Music & Memory, and Suicide Prevention, as well as training, therapy, and support for other non-profit entities like the Police Activities League, and local first responders.
